The Urologic Research Institute has four primary goals:
- Initiate and conduct research to advance methods, technologies and standards-of-care for urologic cancers and disorders including prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia and erectile dysfunction.
- Nurture similar research and activities directed at other cancers.
- Develop awareness strategies and community-based programming aimed at the prevention of prostate cancer and other urologic disorders.
- Establish methodologies to better diagnose benign and malignant urologic cancers and disorders.
Other topics of interest to our research team include testicular cancer, renal cancer, bladder cancer, chemoprevention of malignant cancers and quality of life issues following cancer treatment, including urinary, bowel and sexual function.
Many activities of the Urologic Research Institute place a strong emphasis on underserved populations in both urban and rural communities.
